Foodie Getaway Parador Santiago de Compostela with traditional galician lunch

This getaway includes: accommodation and breakfast and dinner at the Parador de Santiago de Compostela (a historic building where pilgrims once stay) -probably one of the most exclusive Paradores in Spain. Built by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabel, the original building was a hospital and the resting place for pilgrims from different parts of Europe when they arrived in the city. Located on the main square in Santiago, this hotel offers you the best views of the cathedral. You will also enjoy a very special dinner with various traditional products of the area

This foodie getaway in Santiago de Compostela at the “Hostal of the Catholic Monarchs” is an amazing experience since you stay in a 15th-Century hospital/hostel near the cathedral. In Santiago and nearby there are lots of things to do and we will give you some tips.
In Santiago de Compostela, there are dozens of monuments and tourist attractions starting with the Plaza de Obradoiro, the square where your hotel is. It is an open-air -museum-like square with the town hall and the cathedral. Here you will find different architectural styles so it presents a good opportunity to learn about the differences between Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. It is also where the most important religious pilgrimage in Europe ends.

The museums in Santiago de Compostela give you the opportunity to learn about the Galician culture with the Museum of Galician people, located in the old convent of Santo Domingo de Bonaval. You cannot miss out on visiting the Cathedral and seeing the grave of the Apostol St James (Santiago).
Santiago is the perfect city to explore and enjoy your time. Visit the Market (Mercado de Abastos) with the freshest local products and even purchase Tetilla cheese, chorizo or sweets such as Tarta de Santiago (almonds cake).
