One moment …

Getaway in Baina Parador with authentic galician food at the Atlantic

This getaway includes accommodation with breakfast and dinner at this magnificent Parador in Baiona at the Atlantic Ocean. With this short break at the Galician coast you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of this place and discover traditional food specialties during dinner. You will sleep in a castle which was used as lighthouse in Baiona. This area has been occupied by different tribes and civilizations throughout history due its location on the peninsula, where the hotel was built (a crossing between sea and land), and the richness of food that could be found here

Galicia is well-known for its history, wines and food - one of the reasons we created this getaway. Galician food is considered to be one of the best in Spain with its fresh fish, seafood and red meat that pairs with its excellent wines such as Albariño (whites) and Mencía (reds). Nevertheless, this foodie getaway goes beyond than just food. The fact of sleeping in a fortress from XVI Century offers quite the experience. Explore the little harbor and wander around the narrow streets in the village.

Parador in Baiona is the most exclusive hotel in the southern part of Rías Baixas. Situated very close to Portugal, it is a very special place to spend a weekend. The main building is an old fortress, once used to control ships in the Atlantic Ocean next to the Portuguese border.
It has big rooms with all the facilities including sport to play tennis or go swimming. Moreover, its location allows you to discover Baiona on foot, also if you feel like a night walk along the walls.

DINNER: enjoy an included dinner at the Parador restaurant (one dinner/night booked) with a gastronomic menu consisting of the most typical products from the area.
Choose a starter, a main dish and a desert (drinks not included)

The Baiona Parador is located on a part of the peninsula where you have perfect views of the sea. In Baiona there are many other things to see and do in the town and surrounding areas near the hotel, nevertheless you can spend the whole time in the town if you wish.

The little port in Baiona is perhaps the most beautiful place in town (besides the Parador), explaining why you always see many visitors strolling along the docks. One of the most interesting attractions to visit in the port is a replica of the Pinta Caravel, one of the ships that came back after Columbus arrived to America for the first time. Baiona was in-fact the first place in Europe to receive the news. The history of Baiona started when the King of Leon gave Fueros (special laws and rules) in the XIII Century resulting in Baiona being attacked by Portuguese, English and French troops to conquer.

In the town you cannot miss La Collegiata de Baiona (Santa Maria de Baiona) built in Romanesque style and the Convent of the Dominicans built in Renaissance style. The civic architecture worth mentioning is the Fortress of Monterreal (Parador) and the Romanesque Bridge of A Ramallosa which crosses the River Miñor.

On the road to Portugal, you will also find the Celtic settlement of Castro de Santa Trega. We also recommend taking the Baiona La Guarda road, ideal for visiting this site. Moreover, on this tour you can stop at the Monastery of Oia or at the Silleiro Lighthouse to see one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Atlantic.

Don’t miss visiting a winery when in this area. It has many exceptional wineries which are ideal for visits and tastings. You can find all this and much more with this getaway in Baiona.
