On the second day of your journey, you'll be accompanied by an expert local guide who will introduce you to Rioja’s landscapes, wineries and rich wine culture. The tour includes a high quality Riojan meal at a local restaurant (changes based on tour option selected) By default, the tour offers a comprehensive introduction to the region and its traditions, providing the perfect overview of Rioja. This is a great private journey that connects Barcelona with Bilbao through the beautiful Rioja wine region. It’s a chance to slow down, enjoy a different side of Spain, and discover small towns, scenic landscapes, and of course, fantastic food and wine along the way.

DAY 1 - Barcelona – Logroño (Rioja)

Your train to Logroño departs Barcelona in the early afternoon. A comfortable train ride of aprox.4 hours will leave you in the Logroño train station,. Your fantastic hotel awaits you and you will be able to enjoy the amazing tapas and wine culture of famous Calle Laurel in Logroño. Your itinerary will contain recommendations with the best stops to enjoy local tapas.

DAY 2 – Rioja wine tour

Enjoy a comfortable journey of approximately 4 hours as you travel into the heart of Rioja wine country. Upon arrival at Logroño train station, your hotel will be waiting for you. The rest of the day is yours to relax and discover the city at your own pace, including the vibrant tapas and wine scene of the famous Calle Laurel. Your itinerary will also include our personal recommendations for the best local spots to enjoy traditional Rioja tapas.

DAY 3 – Haro and Transfer to Bilbao

Your final day is dedicated to Haro, widely considered the wine capital of Rioja and the historic heart of the region’s wine culture. On this day, you will not be accompanied by a private guide, as each winery is hosted by its own expert team. This allows you more freedom and time to enjoy each visit at your own pace. You will visit 2 carefully selected wineries located in and around the famous Barrio de la Estación, where many of Rioja’s most emblematic wineries are found within walking distance of each other. After your visits, you will enjoy a traditional lunch at a local asador, known for its simple, high-quality grilled cuisine and authentic regional atmosphere. In the afternoon, a private transfer will take you comfortably to San Sebastián or Bilbao.

Dietary restrictions. The tour can accomodate nearly all possible dietary restrictions. You will be requested to provide dietary restrictions through the booking process.
At what time will we take the train from Barcelona on day 1? There are normally 2 trains to Rioja on day 1. You will be requested your preferences when the team prepares your itinerary and train timetables are made available.
At what time will be arrive to Barcelona on day 2 or 3? There are also 2 trains to get back to Barcelona but if you opt for the 1 night tour you will get back to Barcelona with the evening train after the wine tour on day 2. You will be provided with options when they are made available by the train provider.
Can I pay with Amex? You need to contact us to be able to book with Amex
Can I play with a paypal account? You need to contact us if you wish to pay using Paypal
Can I have the name of the wineries we will visit? We do not advertise the names of the wineries visited and prefer not to provide them to ensure we keep the exclusivity of the tour to its maximum for our customers. We only visit small, top wineries that fit perfectly well into the schedule for the day.
Can I propose which wineries to visit? We understand you may love some wines and would like to visit the winery where they are produced. We are happy to listen to your preferences but please bear in mind that some wines are great, but the wineries not worth visiting. Please bear also in mind that some wineries do not accept visits or are not available on many days. Lastly, visiting certain wineries may imply a huge detour. The local team is expert in Rioja and will ensure your tour includes amazing wineries.

DEPOSIT OPTION

If you are booking well in advance you may prefer to pay a 20% deposit to reserve your date. If you book for less than 30 days we recommend you book paying the full amount. Full balance is requesterd 4 or 3 weeks prior to the starting tour date.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If cancelled 30 days before the start of your trip, 15% of the total services cost will be deducted. For cancellations within 30 days of the starting date of the service, 30% of the total cost will be charged. Tours cancelled 7 days or less prior to the first day of your trip are non-refundable. We advise that you consider purchasing Trip Cancellation / Travel Insurance.
