Great tour AND history lesson
This tour was a great combination of views, history, and wine. Our guide, Christopher, gave us so much information about the history and the art at the monestary in on montserrat. the day we went was very foggy so the views weren’t great but nevertheless it was a great tour. the wine tasting portion was a very thoughtful and intimate experience since we were with our small groups. everyone in the tour was fun to talk to as well. The wines and the winery itself were incredible. Finally, all the guides had a great sense of humor which made the bus ride super fun. 10/10 would recommend.

Montserrat is located 50 kilometers from Barcelona. It is a 1,225 meters high mountain, with a mysterious and beautiful shape.
After Santiago de Compostela and El Camino, Montserrat is the second most important pilgrmigae center in Spain. The Monastery was founded in 1025. Shepherds had a vision, they followed it and the Black Virgin, “La Monereta” was discovered. The Monastery of Montserrat was built to commemorate that vision. La Monereta or Black Madonna is Catalonia´s patron since 1881.
