Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do wine tastings and still drive?
As a general rule our itineraries are planned so that driving is minimised while visiting wineries, for example by booking wineries that are within walking distance from each other. In any case, wine tasting etiquette does not require that you drink and it is perfectly acceptable not to do so. There will be spittoon buckets available for your use at each winery.

Price of the tour
95% of the time the price quoted for the tour will be as on the tour page. However, in Spain there are a number of special festivals and holidays which may raise the price of certain local services, such as Easter, Film Festival in San Sebastian, Santiago´s Day, the Festival of San Mateo or San Fermines, etc. If you would like to make your reservation over some of these dates, this may mean that the given price may change. It would be a good idea to check your dates with us first or make your reservation in advance.

How do I make my reservation?
To make your reservation, please contact us by clicking "Make an enquiry". We will require a 15% deposit to hold your reservation and begin working on your itinerary. The remaining amount can be paid when we send you your trip itinerary. Normally, your personalized itinerary is sent 2 months in advance although this depends on when the trip is booked.

I would like to do this trip, but I would like to make some changes
Absolutely, we would be happy to incorporate your preferences. Your reservation already includes 2 hours extra ´personalized tour design´ work by one of our travel consultants, which should be enough time to make reasonable changes to your itinerary (see Included/Not Included sections above).

I would like to extend the trip and add another tour of yours that I like
No problem! Please contact us with us regarding your preferences. You may want to include additional nights in a hotel or add an extra city to your trip. Additionally, if you add another multi-day tour or road trip to this tour, you will receive a 5% discount on the second tour.

Cancellation and changes policy

If cancelled more than 30 days before the trip starts, 15% of the total trip price will be deducted to account for tour organisation and administration costs. If cancelled less than 30 days to the trip start date, a 30% fee will be deducted. Trips cancelled 7 days or less before the trip start date are non-refundable. We recommend purchasing Travel Insurance.

Any change request made by the customer after already having booked and confirmed the dates of the trip may imply an additional administration fee of 5% and may also impact the overall trip price due to provider price changes. Cancellation of the trip may be necessary if date changes impact availability (in which case, the cancellation policy will apply).

This is our recommended itinerary for this tour. We can adapt this tour to your special interests. By booking the tour you will enjoy 4 hours adaptation time by a local expert.

DAY 1 – Madrid – Trujillo – Cáceres

Be picked up from your hotel by your friendly local guide for day 1 of your private tour. On this first day, you will get to know Extremadura, home of Spain’s most famous “conquistadores”.
We have selected for this day a local oil producer to enjoy one of Spain’s gastronomic treasures. The next stop will be Trujillo, a fantastic walled city which became rich and famous thanks to the gold brought back from America. Your first meal will introduce you to the delicious gastronomy from Extremadura.
Day 1 ends in Cáceres, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Spain’s best preserved medieval historic centers. Get lost through its streets and get transported to the Middle Ages. We have selected a very elegant hotel and a tapas tour with your guide to enjoy one of Spain’s best known traditions (tapas) in a city famous for the jamón iberico from Montanchez.

DAY 2 – Cáceres – Mérida - Seville

Say goodbye to Cáceres after your delicious breakfast. Today, we will visit a local wine producer at a family-owned winery and be transported back to Roman times in Merida. Merida was one of the main stops on “La Ruta de la Plata”, one of Spain’s most important Roman routes. Silver from the north was transported to the harbors in the south and used to finance the empire. Merida is an amazing and well preserved city.

The archaeological ensemble of Merida is one of Spain’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offers outstanding examples of Roman architecture with its theatre that is still in use today. For lunch, we have selected a restaurant in Merida that interprets the local cuisine of Extremadura with a modern twist.

Depending on your interests, an additional stop can be made on the route to Seville or we can make our way directly to the Andalusian capital.

After check-in at your beautiful hotel, you will enjoy one of Spain’s most famous districts, Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter, where you will have an evening tapas tour with your guide.

DAY 3 – Seville

Seville, its streets, plazas and monuments offer the quintessential image of Spain. The capital of Andalusia is well known for its passion for life and beauty. The Guadalquivir River adds a romantic touch to one of Europe’s loveliest historic cities.

You will be met by your local expert guide at your hotel to start a cultural tour of the city. Seville’s cathedral is the world’s largest gothic church and was transformed from a Muslim mosque to a cathedral. La Giralda, the minaret of the previous mosque, has preserved all of its former splendor. The next stop will be at the Real Alcazar of Seville. Of Moorish design, it is a stunning royal palace filled with courtyards, gardens and fountains.

Depending on your interests, we will adapt the rest of the day in Seville for you, either by adding a cruise on the Guadalquivir, or a flamenco show in Triana can be added.

The day will end with a fantastic dinner in Seville with a tasting menu to enjoy Andalusia´s finest cousine

DAY 4 – Seville - Granada

Depending on your interests, we can add a tour to Jerez de la Frontera, home of some of Spain’s famous sherry wines, more time in Seville, or an earlier transfer to Granada.

We have included for tonight a fantastic hotel in Granada and also a gastronomic dinner at one of Granada´s best restaurants.

DAY 5 - Granada

For centuries, Granada was a cultural center. Poets, artists, philosophers and the likes gathered in Granada. This heritage can be seen nearly everywhere in Granada and its glorious past is still present today. The Alhambra palace is the most important witness of the Islamic civilization that flourished in Granada. Its palaces, gardens, and fountains are a showcase of art and good taste.

You will meet your local expert guide at your hotel for a private guided tour of Granada and La Alhambra. Your guide will provide recommendations for the rest of day based on your interests, as well as ideas on places to enjoy dinner.

DAY 6 – Granada - Cordoba

You will be driven from Granada to Cordoba this morning after having enjoyed breakfast at your hotel. Depending on your interests, we can add a visit to a local wine producer in the region of Montilla, famous for its fortified wines.

After checking in at the fantastic hotel we have selected in Cordoba, you will meet your local expert guide for a tour of Cordoba and discover the Mezquita and the Alcazar.
Cordoba used to be the most important city in ancient Europe and the capital city of Al Andalus. Under Moorish rule, three religions prospered and lived here together peacefully.

DAY 7 - Córdoba – Ubeda – Jaén - Almagro

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your tour guide and driver to start the day 7 of your tour. The day's itinerary will continue with stops in Jaén and Úbeda. Despite not being among the most famous destinations in Spain, the cities of Jaén and Úbeda are hidden gems that transform a tour into something really special. You will be surprised by the beauty of the cathedral in Jaén and the elegant architecture of Úbeda. Today, we have included a winery visit and a traditional top quality meal from La Mancha. Almagro is one of the most interesting towns of La Mancha and home to one of Spain's most beautiful plazas. Almagro is especially famous for its “Corral de Comedias”, a theater which is unique in its kind and which has operated since the XVII century. For tonight, we have selected the best hotel in Almagro. Before going to sleep, you will enjoy a tapas dinner with your guide: time to learn more about Manchego cheese!

DAY 8 – Almagro – La Mancha – Toledo - Madrid

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your tour guide to enjoy a visit of the Corral de Comedias in Almagro. The tour will then continue towards the land of Don Quixote. Windmills, castles and vineyards define the landscape, famous for the fights between Don Quixote and the white giants! We have booked lunch at a typical Manchego restaurant where you will enjoy local specialties. After lunch, your tour continues to Toledo, former capital of Spain. You will visit the old Imperial City and enjoy two of Toledo’s most remarkable monuments with your English-speaking tour guide.

DAY 9 – Madrid

Depending on your plans, our team will be happy to assist with your trip. You can also enjoy one of our day tours near Madrid or our 3-day tours to the north of Spain that connect Madrid with Bilbao, San Sebastian, or Barcelona.
