You will be picked up from your hotel or apartment in San Sebastian by your friendly English-speaking guide and make your way to the charming Basque town of Hondarribia at just half an hour from San Sebastian. Before exploring the town of Hondarribia, you will stop at a viewing point with spectacular views of town and the bay. Just across the water and a short distance away, you can see France and the French Basque village of Hendaye.
Your tour guide will tell some tales of Hondarribia´s interesting history as you stroll through the streets of the Marina Neighborhood where the fishermen lived. You will then explore the well-preserved old town surrounded by the city walls. You can take pictures of the beautiful Basque houses, take a peek inside the historical castle where you will learn about Hondarribia´s key role in the defense of the Spanish border, and make your way through the maze of cobble-stoned streets.
Now it’s time for some food and wine! Your guide will lead you to a typical basque gastronomic society for a fantastic meal and a truly local experience.
