About Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero is one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain. It produces elegant, full-bodied red wines which are hailed for their high quality and finesse.

With a continental climate that favours high quality wine making, the elevated plains of Ribera del Duero are perfect for producing the region´s Tempranillo grape. Wines produced in this area must be at least 75% Tempranillo and can only be blended with certain varieties of grape in small quantities, such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Rosé wine is also produced in the area.

In addition to discovering the region´s wines and fascinating wineries, Ribera del Duero also offers beautiful landscapes, historical castles and medieval fortresses. You can also learn about the Duero River, which in Roman times was personified as a God, and today feeds the banks of Ribera´s vineyards.

We finished our wine tour yesterday and everything was wonderful. All three wineries were very accommodating and the tours and tastings were good. We probably liked the second one the best, but the food and hospitality at the first winery was hard to beat.
